Franklin Woman’s Club is a Gold Ladle Sponsor $500
Empty Bowls – Franklin Township, NJ, in concert with the Franklin Food Bank, will host the first annual Empty Bowls Event, on March 10, 2019 at the DoubleTree by Hilton on Atrium Drive in Somerset. The event is open to the public.
Empty Bowls is a grassroots effort to raise both money and awareness in the fight to end hunger, personalized by artists and art organizations on a community level. For a monetary donation, guests can choose a pottery bowl handmade by a local artist, fill it with food donated by area restaurants, and keep the bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. All proceeds from this Empty Bowls event go directly to the Franklin Food Bank, the nonprofit agency serving the hungry in Franklin Township and nearby communities.
“Food insecurity is a pressing social need where individuals and households have limited or uncertain access to adequate food,” explained local potter and event coordinator Susan Seamon of Somerset. “One hundred percent of our proceeds go to the Franklin Food Bank to help our neighbors.”
This event reflects the combined efforts of various members of our community. Bowls are being made and contributed by local artists. Soup and other delicious food items will be donated by fine local restaurants. The event is sponsored by local organizations.
The Empty Bowls – Franklin Township NJ is an independently organized project of local artists and residents of Franklin Township, NJ who are looking to make a difference, through art and food, in the lives of others.
